ZMK Group, Inc. was founded by Zachary M. Kaplan in September 1992 and works on an average of seven to ten projects simultaneously with construction values ranging from $450,000.00 to $4,500,000.00. The majority of ZMK Group, Inc.’s projects are large-scale residential interiors and are the result of client, architect and interior designer referrals. We are extremely proud of our long term working relationships within the architecture and design community.
ZMK Group, Inc. has 33 full-time employees. Our field staff includes a team of highly trained and extremely well qualified on-site job supervisors, in-house carpenters, laborers and a full-time delivery person. The ZMK office staff includes a team of highly experienced, detail oriented and thorough project managers, a general manager, a director of purchasing, a controller, an office manager, and an administrative staff. In addition to the company president, the hands-on general manager oversees the day-to-day operations of all projects.
In addition to our dedicated managers and in-house carpenters, our project teams consist of numerous specialized subcontractors that include highly skilled cabinet makers, plaster and stone work artisans, custom glass and architectural metal fabricators, tile and wood flooring installers, stair fabricators, painters and custom finishers, plumbers, electricians and heating and air-conditioning mechanics. Over the past 18 years we have built close working relationships with each subcontractor we work with. We are very proud of our ten- year average working relationship with our subcontractors.
Each project is assigned a dedicated on-site supervisor. This supervisor is on the project from the day it begins through to its completion. Additionally, each project is assigned an office based project manager. Depending on the project’s size, complexity and client requests, a project manager may be responsible for a single project or as many as three simultaneously.
Schedules for each project are established and tracked using Microsoft Project. They are updated on a regular and as needed basis. ZMK Group, Inc. holds weekly job site meetings that are attended by job supervisors, project manager, and often the company’s General Manager. Also in attendance is the project architect and when available, the client themselves. Project schedules and meeting minutes keep everyone in the project involved and informed. Solid communication and client service are of paramount importance to our company.
